Tips For Being A Good Unboxer

We've watched a lot of electronic products unboxing videos on YouTube. But only a few from them are good such as DetroitBORG and SoldierKnowsBest (make sure to follow them on Twitter and subscribe on YouTube! P/S: It's @SoldierKnowBest on Twitter. Take off the s of the "Knows"). Many of them do it with impatient and bad camera shot. Anyway, here are tips if you want to start being an unboxer. Follow these steps if you decide to be a good one.

1. Don't get too excited

Many unboxer on YouTube open the packaging of their product with lack of patience and they are careless. Try to relax. Yes, I know it feels great to get on your new gadget but when you are over-excited, the packaging may be ruined when you tear them off. Before you start recording your video, take a look on the pack and find how to open it properly. I also have watched a video which the unboxer dropped his brand new Apple iPod classic 6th generation. One of the worst unboxing video I've ever seen.

2. Make sure you always got something to say

Before you start the job, write and memorize the transcript first. What you need to say on the video. Include some specification details and the evolution history if the product had previous generations. Tell them the material used to make the gadget if it's different or rare compared to the other brand. The software installed, other variants available and what are new features that should be added to the product in the future. Don't repeat same facts again and again. Simply tell the viewers about the product with interesting tones. Also control your breath. Don't breathing with noisy sound. It will reduce the clarity of your voice.

3. Stabilize your camera

Don't hold the camera using your hand. Get the camera on your head using special strap or if you have other better ideas, just use your own. Get a light on the camera to avoid the video become dim. And don't move your camera frequently. Make it stay still in a position close to the product.

4. Edit your video

Sometimes the packaging become very complicated to be teared off. Or maybe you took too long time looking for the starting point of the wrapper tape. These will make your video boring and take longer time to buffering on the web. Cut all those unwanted scenes nicely. Add some simple effects such as fading out the video.

5 . Have an unboxing knife with you

I can't believe there's a lot of unboxers out there who didn't have a knife or scissors with them while they're tearing off the cellotapes from the box. Don't use your bare hand to do this job as it will ruin your whole product packaging. And use them carefully. Don't press the knife too deep as it will maybe scratch your product inside.

6. Show the whole packaging to audiences

Some unboxers really did what the video is about - unboxing. They just simply tear off the plastics, pull the wrapper and get the product inside out one by one. Show around the whole box to camera. What is printed on the box, some interesting information may be there to be showed. And if you own the previous generation of the product, or the same kind of product but manufactured by other brand, why don't you compare them together?

So, I wrote these guide from my experience watching tons of unboxing videos on YouTube as I keep myself on it for hours but spending only a few minutes in Facebook. What I said above are most common mistakes of YouTube unboxers have done. It's not a full manual on unboxing skill. Learn from other's mistakes and take advantage of them to make your perfect one!

damn problem part 2!!!!!!!!!!

I get my new iPod shuffle about three months ago. It works very well with no problem. Just a few days ago, my iPod didn't sync a song even the memory space still much left. And it also keep sync another song even though it was already on the iPod. And I don't make any changes to the song. And for the one that did not sync to the iPod, it was checked and in format supported by the iPod that is MP3 of course. Sometimes when I connect the iPod to my computer, a message appear in iTunes stated that an iPod has been detected but it can't recognise it and recommended me to reinstall iTunes. And this problem occur at the same time the iPod "Others" capacity (see the image, that one with red circle around it) increase from 0.11 GB to 0.12 GB. I don't enable my iPod for disk use as it only does have 1.88 GB of memory space. I don't want reinstall my iTunes. Take a long time to processing the artworks and analyzing for Sound Check. But I also don't want to restore my iPod and if I have to, I don't have internet connection to do it. Anybody got idea for my problem. Tell me if you also faced this shit!

Things that should be added and removed from Twitter!!

Twitter is the best social site I've ever know after MySpace. Why do I like it so much? Because of the simplicity they offer but without boundaries on your creativity. And it's much different from other social networking such as Facebook, MySpace, Friendster etc. They're all using the same concept. Same features. Status updates, pictures uploads, video, browsing albums and they do look like blogs. If it's all about that, I'd rather stay with MySpace than create a Facebook account. Facebook and MySpace often stated: "This user only shares his/her info with people he/she know" where you can't view their profile. I fucking hate that crap! How do I invite somebody as my friend when I don't know anything about them?!! What's their interests, favorite musics, singers, hobbies or movies. I will add someone when I found something that same on me - same hobbies, same musics taste or otherwise. Anyway, here are some functions that should be added and removed from Twitter to make it better for us. Read it and send me your feedbacks!! :-D

Features that should be removed from Twitter:

Direct message - Twitter is for sharing the news and updates to everybody so direct messages didn't needed in Twitter. And using the direct message function is too complicated when the user must be following you for you to send him/her a direct message.

Following confirmation - it happens sometimes when you hit the "Follow" button and a message appear that stated the he/she only allowed specific users to follow her tweets. Even though he/she following you, it doesn't mean that you can follow her back seamlessly. It's very annoying for us to wait until a week or month for the user to confirm us as their follower. Like Facebook and MySpace. Confirmation is an essential for us to be friend. MySpace even worse, sometimes you need their email address to add them. Fucking annoying.

Features that should be added to Twitter:

200 limited characters - yes I know Twitter is simple and you need to shortened your words so it'll be simple to fit 140 caracters. But when you're struggling to make it fits 140 characters, we no longer call it simple.

Its own URL-shortener feature - Yeah there's already URL shorterner on the web with the likes of Tiny URL but it's very slow and since it's the Twitter got very limited characters on pocket, they do really need their own URL-shorterner, a fast one so I don't need to open a new tab and use the other web.

Shortforms dictionary - So many people use shortforms in Twitter because of its limited characters. We do understand a lot of them, but some are unrecognised and you don't be able to understand the whole meaning of what the Tweet is about. So Twitter should make their own English shortforms dictionary of common words being used. They can also create their own shortforms for us to use it and it could become a trend and being used widely in SMS and chattings.
